Once upon a time...

Moulure Alexandria Moulding Inc. was established, as a small retail building supply store, a block from its present location, in 1943 by its founder Mr. Rolland Cholette (1913-2001).

In 1948, the business was expanded to include the manufacture of Window Sashes and Doors. Interior wood mouldings were added in 1952.

Following a devastating fire in 1955, it was decided to discontinue the building supplies trade and to concentrate on the manufacturing process.

The company was incorporated under the laws of the Province of Ontario as Alexandria Sash & Door CO., Limited in September 1955.

Rolland’s two sons Ronald and Guy Cholette joined the company in 1952 and 1955 respectively as President and Vice President. Positions which they occupied until their retirement on October 31, 1997.

While rebuilding, after another disastrous fire in 1969, a decision was reached to concentrate the entire operation exclusively on the production of wood mouldings.

By 1975, the Company had been built into a highly successful manufacturer of quality wood mouldings.

In 1989, expansion plans led to the building of a plant in Moxee WA which was know as Can-Am Millwork Ltd. This site became operational in April 1990.

On February 27th 1998, under the laws of the Province of Ontario and of the State of Washington, the companies were registered as Moulure Alexandria Moulding Inc. (a.k.a. internally Alex (E)) and Alexandria Moulding Inc. (a.k.a. Alex (W)).

On November 1st 1997, the family owned operations were taken over by the third generation and are presently under control of Jacques, Andre, Richard and Pierre Cholette.
